Book Description
New York Times bestselling author LaVyrle Spencer presents a beautiful and moving tale of a false marriage that leads to true love. The wedding of Clay Forrester and Catherine Anderson was the social event of the season. It seemed like a page out of a fairy tale. But everything about it—from the formal vows to the magnificent reception—was a lie. Catherine had reluctantly agreed to Clay’s “marriage of convenience”—and the only thing that could threaten their arrangement was the unexpected arrival of love. “A superb story.”—Los Angeles Times “LaVyrle Spencer’s legions of fans are drawn to her fiction because of its uncalculated emotion and the author’s almost old-fashioned sense of integrity.”—Chicago Tribune “LaVyrle Spencer is magic!”—Affaire de Coeur

Heat Exchange of Tubular Surfaces in a Bubbling Fluidized Bed
Author: Oleksandr Redko
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0128232811
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 286
Book Description
Heat Exchange of Tubular Surfaces in a Bubbling Boiling Bed bridges the gap surrounding the study of a boiling bed of large particles with smooth and ribbed pipes, as well as pipe bundles. The book's authors combine results from experimental studies with their varied practical experience in fields of boiling bed applications across various disciplines such as chemical, pharmacological, metallurgical and power engineering industries. This book provides readers with a deep practical understanding of how to calculate the heat engineering parameters of ribbed pipe bundles in a boiling bed, along with the hydrodynamics of the boiling bed.Researchers and experts involved in the design, development and operation of boiling bed apparatus will follow step-by-step methods and procedures to gain knowledge of the hydrodynamic and heat exchange elements of the boiling bed which can be applied to their own settings. The effect of gas velocity, size and properties of the dispersed material, the geometric characteristics of the pipe bundle is also presented, alongside data on the effect of high temperature and high pressure of gas in a dispersed system on heat exchange intensity. - Covers the design of apparatus and devices with a boiling bed in various industries - Includes criteria equations for calculating heat exchange, as well as data for the calculation of furnace devices - Presents the structure analysis of the boiling bed with submerged pipe bundles and the calculation of the hydrodynamic resistance of the boiling bed

Stochastic Modelling in Process Technology
Author: Herold G. Dehling
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080548970
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 291
Book Description
There is an ever increasing need for modelling complex processes reliably. Computational modelling techniques, such as CFD and MD may be used as tools to study specific systems, but their emergence has not decreased the need for generic, analytical process models. Multiphase and multicomponent systems, and high-intensity processes displaying a highly complex behaviour are becoming omnipresent in the processing industry. This book discusses an elegant, but little-known technique for formulating process models in process technology: stochastic process modelling. The technique is based on computing the probability distribution for a single particle's position in the process vessel, and/or the particle's properties, as a function of time, rather than - as is traditionally done - basing the model on the formulation and solution of differential conservation equations. Using this technique can greatly simplify the formulation of a model, and even make modelling possible for processes so complex that the traditional method is impracticable. Stochastic modelling has sporadically been used in various branches of process technology under various names and guises. This book gives, as the first, an overview of this work, and shows how these techniques are similar in nature, and make use of the same basic mathematical tools and techniques. The book also demonstrates how stochastic modelling may be implemented by describing example cases, and shows how a stochastic model may be formulated for a case, which cannot be described by formulating and solving differential balance equations. - Introduction to stochastic process modelling as an alternative modelling technique - Shows how stochastic modelling may be succesful where the traditional technique fails - Overview of stochastic modelling in process technology in the research literature - Illustration of the principle by a wide range of practical examples - In-depth and self-contained discussions - Points the way to both mathematical and technological research in a new, rewarding field
