Wind Tunnel Investigation of Aerodynamic Loads on Weapons Separated from Carriage Under the Wing of a Tactical Fighter Aircraft at Supersonic Speeds

Wind Tunnel Investigation of Aerodynamic Loads on Weapons Separated from Carriage Under the Wing of a Tactical Fighter Aircraft at Supersonic Speeds PDF Author: J. C. Donaldson

Category : Aerodynamic load
Languages : en
Pages : 212

Book Description
Exploratory static-stability tests were made on models of the MK-84 weapon and a modular weapon configuration during simulated weapon separation from the wing of the F-4C Tactical Fighter Aircraft at freestream Mach numbers 1.76, 2.0, and 2.5. Data were obtained with the parent aircraft at zero angle of attack and the weapon at the carriage incidence angle of -1 deg. Supplementary data were obtained for weapon angles of attack of + or - deg. Unit Reynolds number ranged from 4.6 million per ft at M free stream mach number = 1.76 to 6.2 million per ft at M free stream mach number = 2.5. Selected results are presented which show the effects on the weapon aerodynamic loads of free-stream Mach number, weapon angle of attack, weapon axial position, and the presence of other stores. Representative shadowgraph and schlieren photographs of the interference flow field are also presented. (Author).

Membrane Separations Technology

Membrane Separations Technology PDF Author: R.D. Noble
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080536182
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 737

Book Description
The field of membrane separation technology is presently in a state of rapid growth and innovation. Many different membrane separation processes have been developed during the past half century and new processes are constantly emerging from academic, industrial, and governmental laboratories. While new membrane separation processes are being conceived with remarkable frequency, existing processes are also being constantly improved in order to enhance their economic competitiveness. Significant improvements are currently being made in many aspects of membrane separation technology: in the development of new membrane materials with higher selectivity and/or permeability, in the fabrication methods for high-flux asymmetric or composite membranes, in membrane module construction and in process design. Membrane separation technology is presently being used in an impressive variety of applications and has generated businesses totalling over one billion U.S. dollars annually. The main objective of this book is to present the principles and applications of a variety of membrane separation processes from the unique perspectives of investigators who have made important contributions to their fields. Another objective is to provide the reader with an authoritative resource on various aspects of this rapidly growing technology. The text can be used by someone who wishes to learn about a general area of application as well as by the knowledgeable person seeking more detailed information.

An Introduction to Turbulent Flow

An Introduction to Turbulent Flow PDF Author: Jean Mathieu
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 9780521775380
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 388

Book Description
Most natural and industrial flows are turbulent. The atmosphere and oceans, automobile and aircraft engines, all provide examples of this ubiquitous phenomenon. In recent years, turbulence has become a very lively area of scientific research and application, attracting many newcomers who need a basic introduction to the subject. An Introduction to Turbulent Flow, first published in 2000, offers a solid grounding in the subject of turbulence, developing both physical insight and the mathematical framework needed to express the theory. It begins with a review of the physical nature of turbulence, statistical tools, and space and time scales of turbulence. Basic theory is presented next, illustrated by examples of simple turbulent flows and developed through classical models of jets, wakes, and boundary layers. A deeper understanding of turbulence dynamics is provided by spectral analysis and its applications. The final chapter introduces the numerical simulation of turbulent flows. This well-balanced text will interest graduate students in engineering, applied mathematics, and the physical sciences.

Physical Separation and Enrichment

Physical Separation and Enrichment PDF Author: Saeed Farrokhpay
Publisher: MDPI
ISBN: 3039284363
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 198

Book Description
This book includes 12 papers from around the world on topics related to physical separation and enrichment in mineral processing. Physical separation is commonly used in the mineral industry to separate valuable minerals from gangues using differences in their physical properties. Physical separation methods have several advantages over other mineral processing techniques due to their high efficiency, low capital and operating costs, no additional chemicals required, and consequently, lower environmental hazard. They can be applied to the ores from mines or tailinsg, or in the recycling stage for scavenging the desired elements.
