Book Description
James Leininger was just two years old when he began having disturbing nightmares that would not stop. He screamed out in the night: 'Plane on fire! Little man can't get out!' While nightmares are common among children, what happened next shocked those around him... James began to reveal details of planes and war tragedies that no two-year-old boy could know. His desperate parents were at a loss to help him until he said three things: 'Corsair', 'Natoma' and 'Jack Larsen'. From these tantalising clues, James's parents travelled thousands of miles and spent many long years piecing together these facts to try and find an answer that could end his torment. Finally, despite his mother's fears and his father's staunch Christian beliefs, they found only one possibility to the endless coincidences that surrounded every detail in James's life – that their son was reliving the past life of a World War II fighter pilot. Their touching story is one that will challenge sceptics and confirm the beliefs of those who already believe in life after death.

When James began screaming out recurring phrases like, "Plane on fire! Little man can't get out!" the Leiningers finally admitted that they truly had to take notice. When details of planes and war tragedies no two-year-old boy could know continued-- even in stark daylight-- Bruce and Andrea Leininger began to realize that this was an incredible situation. SOUL SURVIVOR is the story of how the Leiningers pieced together what their son was communicating and eventually discovered that he was reliving the past life of World War II fighter pilot James Huston. As Bruce Leininger struggled to understand what was happening to his son, he also uncovered details of James Huston's life-- and death-- as a pilot that will fascinate military buffs everywhere. In SOUL SURVIVOR, we are taken for a gripping ride as the Leiningers' belief system is shaken to the core, and both of these families come to know a little boy who, against all odds and even in the face of true skeptics, harbors the soul of this man who died long ago.

Book Description
World War II Aviation Artwork, and the stories behind these beautiful birds, is a curated collection of WWII aircraft photography and artwork. During my first WWII airplane photography session, I desired more than an ordinary photograph. I felt the necessity to create works of art from the thirty four vintage aircraft that I had photographed. By applying my digital imaging and commercial photography skills, I created this unique photographic/artistic process. Besides the artwork, I researched, discovered, and acquired historical images, aircraft specifications, unfamiliar background information and a few personal stories of some of the people that kept these planes flying.Even though these WWII planes were instrumental in the war, I was inspired to showcase the ingenuity of early aviation. It was and still is amazing to me how many different types of aircraft were built in such a short period of time. Modifications and upgrades were constantly being applied to these aircraft between 1939 and 1945. I wanted to portray that innovation and creativity of Aviation during a difficult time in our history through my artistic abilities. This reader-friendly book utilizes the Times Roman font in a larger than normal font size for easy reading as well. For the same reason the gutter or enlarged center area was used to keep the pages flat while observing the artwork. The unique aircraft artwork I have created for WWII Aviation Artwork and the Stories Behind These Beautiful Birds, has been combined with historical images, and enhanced with personal WWII stories from survivors of the war, to bring you a coffee table book you will enjoy reading and re-reading while sharing with your friends and loved ones.

To Fly and Fight

To Fly and Fight PDF Author: Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1524563420
Category : Biography & Autobiography

Pages : 576

Book Description
Bud Anderson is a flyers flyer. The Californians enduring love of flying began in the 1920s with the planes that flew over his fathers farm. In January 1942, he entered the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet Program. Later after he received his wings and flew P-39s, he was chosen as one of the original flight leaders of the new 357th Fighter Group. Equipped with the new and deadly P-51 Mustang, the group shot down five enemy aircraft for each one it lost while escorting bombers to targets deep inside Germany. But the price was high. Half of its pilots were killed or imprisoned, including some of Buds closest friends. In February 1944, Bud Anderson, entered the uncertain, exhilarating, and deadly world of aerial combat. He flew two tours of combat against the Luftwaffe in less than a year. In battles sometimes involving hundreds of airplanes, he ranked among the groups leading aces with 16 aerial victories. He flew 116 missions in his old crow without ever being hit by enemy aircraft or turning back for any reason, despite one life or death confrontation after another. His friend Chuck Yeager, who flew with Anderson in the 357th, says, In an airplane, the guy was a mongoosethe best fighter pilot I ever saw. Buds years as a test pilot were at least as risky. In one bizarre experiment, he repeatedly linked up in midair with a B-29 bomber, wingtip to wingtip. In other tests, he flew a jet fighter that was launched and retrieved from a giant B-36 bomber. As in combat, he lost many friends flying tests such as these. Bud commanded a squadron of F-86 jet fighters in postwar Korea, and a wing of F-105s on Okinawa during the mid-1960s. In 1970 at age 48, he flew combat strikes as a wing commander against communist supply lines. To Fly and Fight is about flying, plain and simple: the joys and dangers and the very special skills it demands. Touching, thoughtful, and dead honest, it is the story of a boy who grew up living his dream.

Washington Warbird Survivors 2002 PDF Author: Harold A. Skaarup

ISBN: 0595216935

Book Description
During the twentieth century, civil and military aviation has played a prominent role in the history and development of Washington. Commercial operators have exploited the advantages offered by aircraft to overcome the unique challenges of geography and climate. By virtue of Washington’s strategic location on the continent’s northwest flank looking out over the Pacific and facing Russia, a wide variety of military aircraft have been based there through the years. The list of military aircraft types that made up the tapestry of Washington aviation is as extensive as the list of legendary figures who have contributed to its amazing history. While most of the military aircraft types no longer grace the airspace over Washington, many can be viewed in their former splendor as they stand as gate guards or museum exhibits. This booklet provides a comprehensive guide to where these restored aircraft can be found. Complementing the details concerning aircraft specifications and roles, the author has included many facts. Finally, the descriptions of the recovery, restoration and preservation efforts stand as a tribute to the many volunteers who have devoted time, energy and financial support to ensure this rich heritage is preserved.

Flying Low

Flying Low PDF Author: Joseph Furbee Gordon

Category : Biography & Autobiography

Pages : 228

Book Description
"Flying a Piper Cub aircraft for artillery fire direction at the front lines against German forces in World War II was hazardous. Shot down twice, Joe Gordon survived to tell what it was like being a pilot of such a plane in combat. The Piper Cub aircraft, flying at the leading edge of American armored divisions, was especially useful as a spotter plane. The advantage of the view a few hunded feet above the leading tanks often resulted in devastating artillery fire raining down upon the enemy just where and when it was needed the most. Joe Gordon fought with the 65th Armored Artillery Battalion in battles from the German border with the Netherlands to the Rhine River and from the Rhine to the Elbe River until almost the end of the European war in May 1945."--Inside back dust cover.
