Book Description
Each one of us is special and was appointed to be at the place and time we are in the history of the world. Each living person was brought into this world purposefully by our Creator. There truly are no "accidents." We are here because our Creator orders us to be here in this world right now, right where we are. I have come to realize that there is more to our Creator than any of us can comprehend. He is wider than the widest ocean, taller than the tallest mountain, deeper than the deepest sea. He is bigger than the earth. The earth is His footstool (Isaiah 66:1). Our Creator loves variety. That is why there are so many shades and types of people, flowers, stars, animals, birds, experiences, colors, days, numbers, fish, creatures of the sea, planets, and so on and on. Yes, our Creator loves variety, which is why He creates the world as a flower garden of people, each one different, each one with a unique purpose to serve in the garden. Each flower has a special purpose in a little garden to provide beauty, fullness, order, scent, and so on. My encounter with our Creator inspires amazement and awe. ...the changing seasons...the beauty of a sunny day, snowy, rainy, and cloudy day...the fact the sun never sets though we see night. On a return flight from Kenya in 2007, I was seated where I could see through the windows on either side of the plane. I marveled at how outside one window I could see night falling while outside the other window the sun was shining brightly. How awesome to be in a position to see the sun setting on one side of the globe and rising on the other. What an amazing experience!

All That We Say is Ours

All That We Say is Ours PDF Author: Ian Gill

Category : Biography & Autobiography

Book Description
Haida Gwaii, the ancient territory of the Haida people, is a West Coast archipelago famous for its wild beauty and rich species diversity. But that natural bounty, since European contact, has also been a magnet for industry. In the mid-1970s, the Haida rallied with environmentalists to end the rapacious logging of their monumental old-growth forests—and to reassert their title and rights to their homeland. Combining first-person accounts with his own vivid prose, Ian Gill traces the struggle from its early days. The battle became epic, stretching from the backwoods of British Columbia to the front benches of Canada’s parliament and uniting a colourful cast of characters. There were many setbacks, but also amazing victories, including the creation of Gwaii Haanas, a world-renowned protected area, and landmark legal decisions. Perhaps the fiercest champion of the Haida’s visionary new stewardship ethic has been Guujaaw—artist, orator, strategist and four-term president of the Council of the Haida Nation. In 2004, the Haida laid claim to their entire traditional territory: the land, seabed and waters of Haida Gwaii. It was an audacious move, and one that set a benchmark for indigenous rights around the world. In telling this incredible story of political and cultural renaissance, Ian Gill has crafted a gripping, ultilayered narrative with far-reaching reverberations.

Book Description
What if it were possible to combine energy and water in a way that would contribute to the reversal of global warming and the restoration of the planet? What if it were possible to have a better quality of life, without having to give anything up? What if that plan made such economic sense that governments and large corporations would buy into it? As it turns out, it is possible to create an energy source by using key technologies that are already available. Most cities have enough rain and sun to meet their water and energy needs, by using simple technology. Building on current mainstream trends in solar energy and wind power, Electric Water offers a clear vision of how the world's energy and water infrastructure could be transformed. The book provides: an outline of the major issues that need addressing, including global warming a fascinating explanation of key technologies in plain water a vision of business and job opportunities in restoration real-life examples, including the post-Katrina Louisiana Coastal Restoration program websites for further information. Unlike many other books on this subject, Electric Water uses accessible language to propose a workable plan for a revolutionary integration of technology and quality of life that will be of special interest to planners, engineers and architects.

Book Description
Though the title sounds like a promotional campaign for the U.S. Army, that's not its intent. Instead, what is contained in this book are road marks for the journey into a new and stronger sense of what it means to be fully alive. All people are created with inherent purpose, promise, and potential. All are endowed with abilities to do more and be more than we sometimes dare imagine. Herein are sermons intended to help readers and listeners discover their own powers and possibilities, to own them, to cultivate them and to live within them. The chapters do not form an exhaustive list of human potentials. They do, however, provide an important inventory of what we all were created to become and can become, if we choose. Chapter titles include: - You Can Be Articulate -- Based upon Mark 7:31-37 - You Can Be Intelligent -- Based upon 2 Chronicles 1-11 - You Can Be Like Children -- Based upon Mark 10:13-16 - You Can Be Beautiful -- Based upon Hosea 14:1-7 - You Can Be Well Fed -- Based upon 1 Corinthians - You Can Be Eternal -- Based upon 2 Corinthians Readers will sense their own calls to be more than they have been thus far and the extraordinary power of One who promises to make the journey with them. Michael B. Brown has a masters of divinity from Duke Divinity School and a doctor of ministry degree from Drew University Theological School. His previous books include It Works For Us! and Ordinary Sins, both from CSS. His work has appeared in the Abingdon Preacher's Annual 1993 and 1994 and in 1990 he received the "Circuit Rider Certificate of Merit" and the "Circuit Rider Sermon-of-the-Year."

Book Description
Throughout our denomination’s nearly 130-year history, twenty-one general overseers have been selected by its ministers as the denomination’s premier leaders—from A. J. Tomlinson, the first, until Raymond F. Culpepper, whose term ended in 2012. Except for the first three, Dr. Douglas LeRoy has known each of them personally. That places him in a unique position to tell the stories of these officials and reflect on their leadership. He also allows each leader to speak for himself through a sermon selected from his writings. This has been a labor of love for Doug LeRoy, performed over a period of years. He has done well! Let us now learn from our leaders. I am convinced this book will increase our understanding, help us avoid pitfalls, multiply our effectiveness, enhance our endurance, and inspire us. I commend it to your reading. —Mark L. Williams General Overseer, Church of God January 2014

Love from a Broken Fire Escape

Love from a Broken Fire Escape PDF Author: Richard D. Jr. Kydd
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 0595449727
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 208

Book Description
In this collection of love poems, Kydd has once again captured the essential duality of the human heart, and of existence itself. The poems range from a celebration of love at first sight and the physical ecstasy of two lovers entwined as one, to the despair of having lost love, for reasons beyond control or understanding. As usual with Kydd's work there is a strong spiritual element, with the soul seeking its ultimate fulfillment. He presents the union between lovers, the mingling of two souls into one, as this fulfillment. But when love is lost suffering is intense, and Kydd also shows this unsparingly. Kydd wouldn't be himself without a healthy streak of cynicism and reality. In the poem ASK NOT he says simply: Never ask "Do you love me" if you do they don't And although his final poem, The Breath of Love, is basically positive and romantic, a few pages previous, when describing his first kiss in COW POKE, he can't resist saying: No sweeter memory in mind and heart could I fathom to this day. Yet in spite of the heightened passion of the moment a thought lingered in my mind ever afterward. .as sweet as her lips felt that wonderful day of my youth her breath smelled and tasted like sour milk.
