Book Description
It's time to talk sh*t—literally! Improve your gut health, and your life, with this relatable and humorous handbook. If you grew up in the Western world, you were probably taught that poop is gross. Unspeakable, even. But it’s a waste to think of poop as a waste. Bags under our eyes tell us we’re not getting enough sleep. Sallow skin, thinning hair, and brittle nails tell us if our diets are imbalanced or if we're overstressed. Poop tells us all of that—and much more. This friendly and conversational handbook from two certified yoga and Ayurveda coaches teaches you how to think of poop as a useful gauge of overall health, and helps you track the effects of simple lifestyle adjustments with: • A seven-day tracker to observe your current poop health. • Insights on the impact of diet, exercise, sleep, and stress on your poop, with tips for making improvements in all areas. • Journal prompts that help you analyze behaviors that lead to good and bad poops. • A 21-day tracker to help you see the positive impact of lifestyle changes on your poop over time. • And more!

Book Description
At 35 with two young children aged 4 and 6 - Bowel Cancer was the last thing on the doctors mind but I knew something wasn't right when I began vomiting after eating. The doctor initially put it down to a 'tummy bug' and then 'digestion issues' as I have no family history of the illness and my age was not of concern. A couple of months later I found myself having emergency surgery on my bowel. I then found out I had Stage 3c Bowel Cancer. Shortly thereafter, this was restaged to stage 4 as I had a metastasis in my ovary which was not previously discovered. All this was happening when COVID-19 was in full swing. Had I realised that Bowel Cancer was not an old persons disease and there was more awareness then I may have got checked earlier, I may have questioned things that were happening - maybe not, I will never know but my objective is to use my experience and learnings to create awareness for young bowel cancer sufferers. This is my very personal account which will hopefully assist anyone newly diagnosed, family members, people recovering from surgery or undergoing chemotherapy and knowing they are not alone.

ISBN: 1775530647
Category : Juvenile Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 171

Book Description
Two teens dare to take on a multi-national corporation in this YA thriller novel by award-winning writer Bernard Beckett. Deep Fried is a fascinating mixture of intrigue, psychological thriller and rebel-of-the-moment youth culture. Peter and Charlotte are itchy, bored by life. They decide through a chance happening to take on a corporate giant (a very large corporate giant cleverly disguised as the Prince of Burgers). Using the media and the internet, they quickly gather quite a following. However, the corporate giant fights back using some very slick enticements and snares to really test the ethical and moral fortitude of our hero and his catwoman. The pitfalls and seductions of the internet are nicely drawn, there's some rather obsessive stalker behaviour, not to mention chat rooms and hackers, lots of suspense and a great thriller ending. Politically savvy, fast-paced and compelling Deep Fried tests the temperature of the disenchanted. A standout novel featuring the debut of Clare Knighton along with veteran writer for teens, Bernard Beckett.

How to Shit in the Woods, 3rd Edition

How to Shit in the Woods, 3rd Edition PDF Author: Kathleen Meyer
Publisher: Ten Speed Press
ISBN: 1607740184
Category : Sports & Recreation
Languages : en
Pages : 138

Book Description
It’s the feisty third edition of How to Shit in the Woods, jam-packed with new information for outdoor enthusiasts of every stripe. Hailed in its first edition as “the most important environmental book of the decade” by Books of the Southwest, and in its second as “the real shit” by the late, great, outdoor photographer Galen Rowell, this bestselling guide is often called the “backpacker’s bible” and has sold more than 2.5 million copies in eight languages. Author Kathleen Meyer continues to pioneer the way with her inimitable voice—at once humorous, irreverent, and direct—examining the latest techniques for graceful backcountry elimination, and answering a desperate cry from nature concerning environmental precautions in our ever-shrinking wilds. World changes come fast and furious, and in the backcountry it is no different. The practice of “packing-it-out,” adopted to protect high use areas and fragile eco-systems, is here to stay. We are now often urged to haul our poop home. Or with increasing frequency, the whole business is mandatory. To assist with all this responsible human waste disposal, Meyer’s new edition features the latest in product innovations, from classy high-tech to inexpensive do-it-yourself. She covers the most current solutions to the health risks of drinking straight from wilderness waterways; presents a raft of natural substitutes for the purist swearing off toilet tissue; and offers a wealth of new recommendations for ladies who must make do without a loo. This down-to-earth guide has been employed as a training aid for scout troops, outdoor schools, and wilderness programs for inner-city youth; for rangers with the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management; as well as for whitewater rafting guides, backcountry outfitters, and members of the military. In rowing hundreds of urbanites down whitewater rivers, Meyer honed her squatting skills and found she “wasn’t alone in the klutz department.” Her delightfully shameless discussion of a once-shameful activity, her erudite examination of its associated vocabulary, and her unapologetic promotion of its colorful vernacular make How to Shit in the Woods essential and vastly entertaining reading for anyone who’s ever paused at the edge of the forest and pondered: “Where do I go to go?”

Book Description
In this book, Smitherman makes a substantial contribution to an understanding of Black English by setting it in the larger context of Black culture and life style. In her book, Geneva Smitherman makes a substantial contribution to an understanding of Black English by setting it in the larger context of Black culture and life style. In addition to defining Black English, by its distinctive structure and special lexicon, Smitherman argues that the Black dialect is set apart from traditional English by a rhetorical style which reflects its African origins. Smitherman also tackles the issue of Black and White attitudes toward Black English, particularly as they affect educational policy. Documenting her insights with quotes from notable Black historical, literary and popular figures, Smitherman makes clear that Black English is as legitimate a form of speech as British, American, or Australian English.
