Geology and Production of Helium and Associated Gases

Geology and Production of Helium and Associated Gases PDF Author: Steven A. Tedesco
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323885551
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 396

Book Description
Geology and Production of Helium and Associated Gases brings together several different theories and models on how helium is generated, migrated to the reservoir, and trapped from several geologic rock types. The importance of this element in society cannot be stressed enough, but helium is in significant short supply. Nitrogen is also important in the fertilizer industry and is a byproduct of helium and natural gas production. Nitrogen presence often indicates the presence of Helium. This book brings together a tremendous amount of geology, engineering, and production methods not available elsewhere in one source. - Includes numerous case histories from locations around the globe - Features detailed discussions of exploration and production methods - Presents original, detailed geologic maps where helium deposits have been sourced

The Superfluid Phases of Helium 3

The Superfluid Phases of Helium 3 PDF Author: Dieter Vollhardt
Publisher: Courier Corporation
ISBN: 0486486311
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 660

Book Description
This classic of modern theoretical physics is the first and only comprehensive treatment of the superfluid phases of helium 3, a crucial aspect of condensed matter physics with applications to many other fields. The self-contained approach explores ideas, concepts, and theoretical results, emphasizing symmetries and the consequences of their spontaneous breakdown. 1990 edition.

Helium Cryogenics

Helium Cryogenics PDF Author: Steven W. Van Sciver
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9780306423352
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 466

Book Description
At least 10 years have elapsed since a comprehensive monograph concer ned with the broad subject of cryogenics has been published. During this time a considerable quantity of research and development has been carried out in the field of cryogenics. Furthermore, there has been a certain degree of redirection of effort within the field, mostly driven by the variety of new applications, ranging from superconductive magnet systems to micro electronics. Greater emphasis is now being placed on low-temperature cryogenics, particularly that of liquid helium. Until now cryogenic books have provided a broad survey of materials and fluid properties over the entire cryogenic regime, T ::5 150 K. This approach does not allow sufficient detail in any particular area to bring the reader to the current level of understanding in the subject. In addition, the behavior of helium has been lumped with that of other cryogenic fluids, although the properties of helium are quite unique. As a result, a clear relationship has not been established between the fundamental understanding of helium fluids and their potential applications. The present book has been written to fill this void. The approach is to survey the field of cryogenics, specifically as it pertains to helium fluids. This approach is more specialized than that contained in previous cryogenics books. Furthermore, the level of treatment is more advanced and a certain knowledge of fundamental engineering and physics principles has been assumed.

Helium Three

Helium Three PDF Author: Roland Dobbs
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780198506409
Category : Helium
Languages : en
Pages : 1088

Book Description
The condensed phases of helium three provide an exciting laboratory for many fundamental questions in condensed matter physics. Due to its light mass and weak interatomic potential, the condensed phases of helium display quantum effects more dramatically than any other atomic system. Intuitionbased on classical experience is often misleading in these phases: the solid phase for instance is less ordered at low temperature than the liquid phase. The present book is unique in covering all the low temperature properties of helium three as liquid, superfluid, and solid. It provides anintroduction to the extensive literature on helium three from the point of view of an experimentalist, and includes the analogy of its properties with the cosmological 'big bang'. Graduate students, researchers, and professionals in condensed matter physics and low temperature physics will findthis the standard reference work for the decade to come.
