Book Description
There are so many types of hobbies: collecting different articles, fishing, games and sport activities, and so on. For me, my hobby was unusual: taking and collecting ship pictures. Since I was little, sometimes people around me did not value this hobby. I grew up with the intention that this hobby would not benefit only me but also others. This is why I established this book to show people all around the world will look at my pictures and learn something about ships. I went to so many different parts of the world to take pictures of the ships. These ships were not only vehicles on the sea for me but also because they meant more than that. Maybe when someone looks at the ship, he/she might only see a vehicle, but I see more than that. I also established this book for those who have different hobbies to share them with others. Modern Cruise Ships from 1931 to 2008 is a collection of ship pictures which I have been taking since 1995. This book also provides some technical data for each ship. There are more than 130 ship pictures in this book. I also have provided my three cruise experiences in this book. This book definitely will be a great source for ship lovers and who are interested in going on a cruise.

Ferries of the World

Ferries of the World PDF Author: Fatih Takmakli

Book Description
Ferries are the orphans of the vehicles. People view their car as their identity; people appreciate planes, and people takes vacation with cruise ships. If you look at around the world, you will find cars, planes, and passenger ships preserved; however, you will hardly find a ferry preserved. One should that Istanbul would not be exotic Istanbul without her pretty ferries; San Diego would not be colorful San Diego without her ferries, and Messina would not be macho Messina without her ferries. Even though many people are not aware of these great vehicles' ability to beautify cities, ferries still carry their mission, carry cars and people from one place to another. After publishing my book, Modern Cruise Ships from 1931 to 2008, I decided to publish this book as well because many people know little about ferries. Therefore, I would like to present the ferry pictures that I have taken during the past 13 years. Ferries of the World is a collection of ferry pictures which I have been taking since 1995. This book also provides some technical data for each ferry. There are 126 ferry pictures in this book. I shared my experience with each ferry in this book.

Giants of the Seas

Giants of the Seas PDF Author: Aaron Saunders
Publisher: Seaforth Publishing
ISBN: 1473852862
Category : Transportation
Languages : en
Pages : 491

Book Description
The cruise ship market is a 30 billion-dollar industry, and in 2013 it is estimated that it will carry more than 20 million passengers; nor is there any sign of a slow down in the seven percent annual growth. What keeps the passengers coming in such huge numbers isn't the food, the ports or the entertainment. They come for the magnificent floating palaces themselves, the giants of the sea.In this new book, the author showcases the most influential cruise ships of the last three decades beginning with Royal Caribbean's ground-breaking Sovereign of the Seas. When she was launched in 1988 she was the largest passenger ship constructed since Cunard's Queen Mary entered service some 48 years earlier, and her entry into service sparked a fiercely competitive building boom that continues to this day. The reader is taken aboard thirty of the most spectacular ships to reveal how their innovative designs changed the landscape of modern cruising. By employing original and archival photographs, deck plans, cruise programmes, as well as the author's intimate knowledge of many of these vessels, a unique picture is built up of these great ships and it becomes clear that the true Golden Age of Cruising is not in some distant past but exists right now, and that its origins can be traced back to one ship, launched in 1988.A truly sumptuous and fascinating book for all those drawn to the world of the modern cruise ship.As seen in Ships Monthly Magazine

Cruise Ships The Small Scale Fleet

Cruise Ships The Small Scale Fleet PDF Author: Peter C Smith
Publisher: Pen and Sword
ISBN: 1781592810
Category : Transportation
Languages : en
Pages : 287

Book Description
Peter C. Smith presents us here with the second release in his visually splendid Cruise Ships series. Whilst his first book concerned itself with the large-scale ships currently cruising through our seas (those weighing 40,000 GT and more) this volume focusses on the other end of the market; the ships that weigh in at less than 40,000 GT, but which are often much more stylish and aesthetically pleasing than their larger-scale counterparts. The elegant interiors and luxurious features on display in today's vast fleet of cruise liners remain unrecorded in all but holiday brochures. This book carries on in the tradition of Peter's last release, giving a complete overview of the best of these ships, the cream of the crop, so to speak.??Each colour profile includes external and interior views of the featured ship. Details of the design, building and service history of each vessel are provided with vital statistics of the ship and its facilities.??This is a book of reference for maritime enthusiasts, would-be holiday cruisers and those who have been passengers. It serves as an impressive visual tribute to the best of the smaller scale fleet currently cruising globally.??As seen in the Bedford Times & Citizen.
