There’s just one problem – totally engrossed in her mobile phone, Milly doesn’t see the bus that is fast approaching – until it’s too late... When Milly next opens her eyes, the consequences of her accident become clear. Everything she has worked for and dreamed of suddenly feels out of reach. But there is one bright spot on her horizon – the reappearance of her ex Jed, in all of his six-foot-four, broad-shouldered glory, with the most piercing ice blue eyes Milly ever saw. Once used to working in a whirlwind, Milly now has the chance to reconsider how to live. Will she rush back to the treadmill, get her head down and back to business, or is there a whole other life waiting for her, if she’ll just look up to see it? ‘Read yourself happy’ with Maxine Morrey’s latest uplifting, page-turning, heart-warming romance, guaranteed to brighten up your day. Always Looking Up

Always Looking Up PDF Author: Michael J. Fox
Publisher: Hachette Books
ISBN: 1401395252
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 306

Book Description
At the turn from our bedroom into the hallway, there is an old, full-length mirror in a wooden frame. I can't help but catch a glimpse of myself as I pass. Turning fully toward the glass, I consider what I see. This reflected version of myself, wet, shaking, rumpled, pinched, and slightly stooped, would be alarming were it not for the self-satisfied expression pasted across my face. I would ask the obvious question, "What are you smiling about?" but I already know the answer: "It just gets better from here." There are many words to describe Michael J. Fox: Actor. Husband. Father. Activist. But readers of Always Looking Up will soon add another to the list: Optimist. Michael writes about the hard-won perspective that helped him see challenges as opportunities. Instead of building walls around himself, he developed a personal policy of engagement and discovery: an emotional, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual outlook that has served him throughout his struggle with Parkinson's disease. Michael's exit from a very demanding, very public arena offered him the time--and the inspiration--to open up new doors leading to unexpected places. One door even led him to the center of his own family, the greatest destination of all. The last ten years, which is really the stuff of this book, began with such a loss: my retirement from Spin City. I found myself struggling with a strange new dynamic: the shifting of public and private personas. I had been Mike the actor, then Mike the actor with PD. Now was I just Mike with PD Parkinson's had consumed my career and, in a sense, had become my career. But where did all of this leave Me? I had to build a new life when I was already pretty happy with the old one. Always Looking Up shares the critical themes of Michael's life: work, politics, faith, and family. The book is a journey of self-discovery and reinvention, and a testament to the consolations that protect him from the ravages of Parkinson's. With humor and wit Michael describes how he became a happier, more satisfied person by recognizing the gifts of everyday life.

A Commentary on Selected Psalms

A Commentary on Selected Psalms PDF Author: David Pawson
Publisher: Anchor
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 255

Book Description
Here is a wealth of insight on a great selection of Psalms which will help preachers and all believers to appreciate their richness and depth of meaning. For example, the author comments on Psalm 23: David wrote this Psalm at the height of his maturity when he could have said as most men in this world say, “I can manage my own life. I don’t need anyone else, I’ll sort out my own problems,” but he didn’t. Even though he reached the top of his career if you like; even though he was the top man of his nation, the King of Israel, he was saying: I am a sheep and I need a shepherd. This Psalm is not for those who are dying, it is for those who are living. One reason why we apply it to death is that in the Authorized Version the word “death” was put into the Psalm and it is not there. It is, “Yea, though I walk through valley of deep darkness I will fear no evil.” You can walk through that valley tomorrow morning without dying. It is also due to the inclusion of the words at the end of the Psalm “forever”, making it a reference to the future life. But in fact, if you have a Bible with marginal references, you will notice at the bottom it is Hebrew “as long as I live”. Now Christians can read eternity into that, but David was talking about as long as he lived here. So this Psalm is to help you Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, next week – however near your death or far from it you are.
