The distance between her online and offline self grows further and further apart until something dark happens that leads her into total self-destruction, forcing Eartha to make a choice; which version of herself should she kill off? Warning this book does include storylines that some readers may find triggering. *Also by Florence Given* Women Don't Owe You Pretty

Book Description
I was done. Done with men. Women say it all the time; they get fed up, throw their hands in the air, and vow a life of celibacy-until the next chiseled chest comes into view and then they're foaming at the mouth and wiping the drool from their chins. But this was different, I really meant it. I'd been manhandled by the last pig that would ever bring his sausage near me. After one of the nastiest divorces in history, followed by some of the crudest and raunchiest dates, I'd decided to bat for the other team. ...At least, I tried. But creating the next Brat Pack hadn't been on the agenda. Neither had my date's brother, Collier West. And I wasn't prepared for finding true love at the end of my gal-pal tryst

Sex, Feminism and Lesbian Desire in Women’s Magazines
Author: Kate Farhall
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1000169758
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 164
Book Description
This book examines evolving pop culture representations of sex and relationships from the 1970s onwards, to demonstrate parallels between the strength of the feminist movement and positive portrayals of women’s sexuality. In charting changes in the sex and relationship content of women’s magazines over time, this analysis reveals that despite surface-level changes in sexual and relationship content, the underlying paradigm of hetero-monogamy remains unchanged. Despite a seemingly more diverse, empowered and liberated sexuality for women in contemporary magazines, in reality, such feminist rhetoric masks an enduring model of sexuality, which rests on women’s sexual and emotional maintenance of male partners and their own self-objectification and self-surveillance. Where substantive changes can be identified, they rise and fall in tandem with feminism. By demonstrating this empirical relationship between cultural products and feminist organising, the book validates an assumption that has rarely been tested: that a feminist social milieu improves cultural narratives about sexuality for women. Sex, Feminism and Lesbian Desire builds on ground-breaking feminist texts such as Susan Faludi’s Backlash to present an empirically focused, comprehensive study interrogating changes in content over the lifetime of women’s magazines. By charting the representation of sex and relationships in two women’s magazines—Cosmopolitan and Cleo—since the 1970s through an analysis of over 6,500 magazine pages and 1,500 articles, this timely work interrogates—and ultimately complicates—the apparent linear progression of feminism. This book is suitable for researchers and students in women’s and gender studies, queer studies, LGBT studies, media studies, cultural studies and sociology.

Women We Love
Author: SooJin Lee
Publisher: Hong Kong University Press
ISBN: 9888754203
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 327
Book Description
Women We Love: Femininities and the Korean Wave is an edited volume exploring femininities in and around the Korean Wave since 2000. While studies on the Korean Wave are abundant, there is a dearth of thought put toward the female-identifying stars, characters, and fans who shape and lead this crucial cultural movement. This collection of essays is one of the first works to focus on gender and the key female actors of this global phenomenon. Using “women” as an inclusive term extending to all those who self-define as women, this volume examines the role of women in K-pop and K-drama industries and fandom spaces, encompassing crucial intersectional topics such as queering of gender, dissemination of media, and fan culture. In addition to the communities engaged with visual culture of the Korean Wave, the audience for Women We Love will reflect the contributors to this text. They are K-pop and K-drama fans, queer, international; they are also academics of Asian histories, sociology, gender and sexuality, art history, and visual culture. The chapters are playful, intersectional, and will be adapted well into syllabi for media studies, gender studies, visual culture studies, sociology, and contemporary global history. “Women We Love goes far beyond the dyad of the flower boy Hallyu star and his female fan to offer readers an illuminating discussion of plural femininities in the Korean Wave since the turn of the millennium. The essays will answer many burning yet heretofore unanswered questions about the affective resonances and political significance of Korean popular culture’s gender dynamics, which have fascinated, puzzled, and at times frustrated many fans and observers. Rigorously interdisciplinary, yet grounded in textual detail, historical context, and material reception practices, this is a timely and valuable contribution to the study of gender, fandom, and global media.” —Michelle Cho, University of Toronto “This is a provoking and fascinating book—one of the most awaited books in Hallyu studies. Drawing from a multitude of feminist theories and case studies, this edited volume not only provides captivating and much-needed discussions but also critically expands the current debates in gender studies, feminism studies, and fan studies. This book is vital literature for researchers, students, and practitioners who are willing to advance their understanding of the Korean Wave from a new scope and angle.” —Dal Yong Jin, Simon Fraser University

Book Description
This exquisitely designed (and very fun) activity book lets you colour in an amazing gallery of the women other women love. Whether it's because they're fashion trendsetters who we all want to emulate, or have an incredible talent and wit or just because they have the best body EVER, it's about celebrating womanhood and appreciating women for their strengths, rather than berating them for their weaknesses as we (and the media) have done for years. It's a fun, humorous, felt-tip-based way to show our love, appreciation and (a bit of) envy for the women we idolise. And as well as their faces, this time we're featuring their clothes, so you can indulge your inner stylist along the way. Featuring film stars (Lindsay Lohan, Emma Stone), pop stars (Rihanna, Lana del Rey), fashion icons (Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung), a special 90s section (Sherilyn Fenn, Winona Ryder, Naomi Campbell) stars old (Marilyn Monroe) and new (Emma Stone), and even a dash of royalty (Kate Middleton), you're guaranteed to find your idol within these pages. And colour her in!
