Book Description
"Azuma" was one of the six armored cruisers built under the programme. Four of them were built by the British Armstrong shipyard, but "Azuma" was ordered in France, and its sister vessel, the "Yakumo", in Germany. Both cruisers were to carry British guns, making them compatible with units built in hazy Albion. The contract for the construction of "Azuma" was signed on 12th of October, 1897, with Ateliers et Chantiers de la Loire. On 1st of February, 1898, the keel was laid at the concern's shipyard in St. Nazaire. The launch took place on 24th of June, 1899. The construction was completed on 28th of July, 1900. The next day, the cruiser left St. Nazaire and went to Japan, reaching Yokosuka on 29th of October 29 of that year.

A STUDY ON JAPANESE MILITARY “COMFORT WOMEN” PDF Author: Zhiliang Su
Publisher: American Academic Press
ISBN: 1631816497
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 376

Book Description
In the history of Asia, the disasters such as the war of aggression launched by Japan are unprecedented. The issue of “comfort women” has not yet become history. History is an objective reality. In the 1930s, the war of aggression launched by Japanese militarism brought great disasters to the Chinese people and the people of Asian countries, including Japan itself. No one can deny and overturn the historical facts. History is a mirror, which provides people with positive and negative lessons. Whether Japan should follow the path of peaceful development or repeat the mistakes of militarism is a matter of great concern to the people of all Asian countries, who were once victims of Japanese aggression. It is also a matter for far-sighted Japanese politicians to consider seriously.

Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
ISBN: 1442281847
Category : History
Languages : en

Book Description
The Russo-Japanese War was fought for 19 months (8 February 1904– 5 September 1905) between the empires of Japan and the Russia over the southern part of Manchuria and the Korean Peninsula. While essentially a colonial conflict, the war became a major engagement both in scale and innovation unseen until then. In recent years there has been a growing awareness that this event marks a historical juncture far more important than it was usually taken to be. This second edition of the Historical Dictionary of the Russo-Japanese War offers a major revision of the highly praised first edition, which, by all accounts, has been the standard work on this conflict in any language during the last decade. The book contains a chronology, an introduction, appendixes, and an extensive bibliography. Moreover, the dictionary section has some 800 new or fully revised cross-referenced entries on the battles, weaponry, and major personalities of the war, as well as various international events and conflicts, agreements, schemes, and projects that led to the war. This book is an excellent resource for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about the Russo-Japanese War.
